QSA200i:
When size and sound means everything
The Quest old QSA200 was
always considered a great little powered speaker package. Featuring
full-range hi-fi sound, rotatable top end wave-guide, plenty of power and
a range of handy accessories. Lots of them made their way into a
multiplicity of compact monitor/mini FOH roles in both rentals and
installation. The retail public liked them as well. Musicians and DJs
purchased them for a variety of applications when ultra-small
good-sounding monitor boxes that could take a hammering were needed.
 
Well the QSA 200 just got a
whole lot more pro with the introduction of an updated model, the Quest
QSA200i. The price hasn’t of course; they’re still priced at the base-end
of the pro-products market, but a complete revision has seen a number of
improvements with the new Quest factory aiming high.
The new QSA200i is the first
of a new range of powered speakers to emerge from the new Quest factory
and it’s a real indicator of things to come. It’s not just a restyling
job, a newly developed top-end driver and an improved power amplifier, as
well as multiple inputs, give the new QSA200i more versatility, and the
addition of the integral stand fittings and extra rigging points make this
box even better for rental and installation applications.
A very smart looking
protective transit cover, which can be left on the box during operation,
makes this quite a unique and functional package. It certainly has a lot
to live up to. A famous Australian audio industry magazine reviewed the
old model, placing it up there with competitors twice the price, so the
new QSA200i will certainly be the one to beat, if you’re looking for a
micro-powered package that fills a silence hole without making too much of
a hole in your bank account.
